Cooperation with the International College of Surgeons (ICS)

The cooperation with the International College of Surgeons (ICS) ensures that the AN-NYA Foundation has access to a worldwide network of surgeons and specialists. This colaboration provides valuable exchanges of contacts for developmental aid and information on political situations. 

This global organization was founded in Geneva in 1935 by Dr. Max Thorek and is now headquartered in Chicago. The vision of the ICS is to promote worldwide cooperation among surgeons and to develop sustainable surgical care in neglected areas.To achieve this goal, local resources are developed and personnel trained with a focus on improving basic and emergency surgery. 

Global Initiavie for Emergeny and Essential Surgical Care (GIEESC), WHO

The Global Initiative for Emergency and Essential Surgical Care (GIEESC), established in December 2005 by the Word Health Organization (WHO), and is comprised of more than 2,300 representatives from health professions, public health experts, health authorities, and international organizations from 140 countries. 

In a joint exchange, policy strategies as well as training resources are developed to reduce diseases or deaths that can be prevented with surgical care. 

For the theoretical blocks of our teaching missions, weutilize training materials from the GIEESC.

At the beginning of the mission at St. Mary's Hospital in Nigeria, an assessment of local needs was conducted using the WHO Situational Analysis Tool.
